This was another of my Mom’s tapes, which she would, I’m sure, have acquired in connection with her job as a music teacher. It’s the Atarah’s Band Kit audio cassette from 1978 – a lively and engaging educational product aimed squarely at kids.

Joe Satriani’s Surfing With The Alien was an instrumental rock guitar album showing off some truly stunning fretboard pyrotechnics. I was just starting to pursue the electric guitar at a more advanced level when this album was released, and after seeing the unmitigated praise it was getting in the guitar magazines, I bought it.

As promised in yesterday’s post depicting the 1996 Sony FXI, this is my other 1990s FXI, from 1995. This version was not pre-labelled at the factory, and came out of its packaging with a bare plastic face.
