Rare 1983 TDK Records Audio Cassette Hybrid

There isn’t much here in 2015 that’s managed to evade the attention of the Internet. Once in a while, however, you unearth an item which, as far as Google is concerned, doesn’t exist. This rare and highly unusual audio cassette fits that bill perfectly.

1980s Sony BHF 90 Audio Cassette Dismantled

Firstly, I should mention that this is not the 1983 BHF 90 I photographed previously (or indeed the 1981). This is another variant with a few small detail differences from the ’83.

A reminder that not all commercial audio cassette recording was related to music or the spoken voice. Back in the distant depths of 1980 there was a thriving cottage industry creating and selling audio recordings of British locomotives, and not just steam. Classic diesel recordings were also very popular.
