When you’ve been pronounced the King of Rock & Roll by Jerry Lee Lewis’s mother, it’s a pretty fair conclusion that that is precisely what you are. Only Chuck Berry had that honour, and he was acknowledged as a key inspiration by some of music’s most historically important exponents, from John Lennon (who called him “the greatest rock & roll poet”) to Little Richard.

Early 1980s Sony Audio Cassettes

An evocative lineup indeed, featuring six as-new blank audio cassettes of the early 1980s. The group includes five different Sony variants, and gives a great insight into the colour mixes that buyers would be seeing on the shelves of the audio stores between 1981 and 1983.

The Jam – Snap Audio Cassette

With a classic red Polydor paper label, Snap, by The Jam, is a reminder of the transition period for pre-recorded audio cassettes in the UK. By the time of this tape’s 1983 release, some manufacturers had dumped trad labels and were screening the relevant details directly onto the plastic casing. Good to see that this release had retained the far more attractive red stick-ons.
